Is the iPad Pro release date delayed? The most talked about device out of the highly secretive Cupertino, Calif.-based Apple has reportedly been shelved for all of 2014 according to a new report by KCI Securities' Ming Chi-Kuo.

So what features might the iPad Pro ship with?

A 12.9-inch 4K resolution display is rumored to be the crowning feature and achievement of Apple's iPad Pro. The 4K resolution will likely be scaled, much like the Retina resolution on the iPad Air and iPad Mini with Retina Displays are. Without scaling, in essence resizing content to fit different sized displays, 4K resolution would be too much for a tiny, sub-13-inch display to deal with. Quad HD or 4K are popular resolutions for cinema projectors and high end flat screen TVs. The upside to including such prized display technology on a device that weighs less than two pounds is that everything will appear crystal clear. 

What will protect the bold and beautiful 4K display Would Corning Gorilla Glass 2 or 3 be on tap? Perhaps not... Apple's longtime partnership with the New York state glass making giant is on thin ice due to sapphire. Sapphire glass is likely going to protect the next generation iPhone and in turn could protect the iPad Pro. Sapphire Glass is incredibly durable. It's reportedly stronger than concrete!

Other features may include iOS 8 or 9. The version of iOS that would ship with the iPad Pro would be highly dependent on the device's release date. A 2014 release would assume the addition of iOS 8 (which will ship with the forthcoming iPhone 6) and a 2015 release would bring along iOS 9.

The iPad Pro may include a hybrid iOS/Mac OS X operating system in an effort to make it a full laptop replacement class device. Such an operating system would make the iPad Pro capable of running applications like Final Cut Pro X, Microsoft Office 2011 and Adobe Creative Cloud in addition to popular mobile apps like Yahoo Weather, Flappy Bird and Newstand. However, such a system would likely render the ultra portable Macbook Air laptop obsolete. The MacBook Air is by far Apple's most popular desktop or laptop product will sales in millions so a hybrid OS may be nothing more than a fanboy pipe dream at this point.

Speaking of hybrid products the iPad Pro could include a fully-functional laptop style keyboard. The keyboard would be detachable via magnets (similar to how the Microsoft Surface keyboards attach and detach.)

Cool stuff right? Now let's hope it comes out sooner rather than later!
