Kevin Durant & Stephen A. Smith Feud: Watch ESPN Analyst's Angry Rant on First Take [Video]
ESPN's basketball analyst Stephen A. Smith just added more fuel to the feud brewing between him and Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant.
In a new episode of ESPN "First Take," Smith fired back at the NBA star, even going so far as telling him, "You don't want to make an enemy out of me."
The bad blood between Smith and Durant started off when the analyst revealed that his sources told him that Los Angeles is the former MVP's number one choice when he becomes a free agent next year.
According to SB Nation, Smith said, "Regardless of how senseless it may (sound), in one breath I'm hearing that if Kevin Durant doesn't stay in Oklahoma City, L.A. is his primary objective and landing spot as opposed to South Beach or even his home of Washington, D.C."
Durant wasn't happy with the recent reports of him leaving his current team just as they're beginning their quest for a chip this season. According to a tweet from Anthony Slater, the former MVP cleared up the rumors telling the media, "I don't talk to Stephen A Smith at all. No one in my family, my friends do. So he's lying."
Smith's most recent rant on "First Take" had him slamming the star's comments and other people who are talking negatively about him. While the ESPN host took the time to say how much he liked Durant as a man and a player, Smith did not mince words with his public statement on the show.
"Kevin Durant is the one that's lying," he told his fellow analyst Skip Bayless, saying that he was surprised and offended at the "personal attack" he felt the Oklahoma City player launched against him.
The reporter went on to dispute Durant's previous statement, saying some of the people in his circle was even contacting Smith over the weekend to attempt to smooth out the conflict.
"The reality is that number one, you don't know who I talk to," Smith said, addressing the basketball superstar. "Number two, if I'm so wrong, why haven't you not [sic] signed an extension with Oklahoma City to stay for years and years to come? Is it not you that alluded to how you're willing to entertain free agency?"
After restating his original statement about Durant considering LA, he clarified, "We don't have to talk to you to talk about you."
Smith finished by addressing the NBA star and saying, "You don't want to make an enemy out of me. And I'm looking right into the camera. And I'm gonna say it again. You do not want to make an enemy out of me. I'm not having it. I've done nothing wrong."
