With "Fifty Shades Darker" going into production in a few months there are still a number of missing ingredients for production. However, a number of facts are already known. Here is what we know so far about the upcoming film.

1. Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan are back: After their breakout performances in the first installment both Johnson and Dornan are back and they already seem excited to work on the new project. Dornan was reportedly offered more money to do the film, although those sources were not confirmed, and Johnson has publicly spoken about her involvement in the project at both the Venice Film Festival and the Ellen show.

2. More Nudity?: After the disappointing reaction from fans of the book, studio execs are working on creating an edgier film that will please the fan base. That is because the first movie was too glossy and it lacked the crudeness of the book.

3. New Director: James Foley is slated to replace Sam Taylor-Johnson for the sequel. The director is well known for directing a few episodes of "House of Cards" and for his films "Fear," "Perfect Stranger," and "Who's That Girl." With a male director, it will be interesting to see how Foley shifts the focus and changes the feel and tone of the series.

4. New Writer: Kelly Marcel will no longer write the series. Instead, Niall Leonard, E.L. James' husband, will write the script for the film. This means that James will have more control over what is being written and how her film is adapted. Perhaps Marcel was trying to be cautious and more tasteful with her sex depictions. However, with Leonard at the helm as writer, perhaps the sex scenes will be what audiences expected from the first film.

5. NC-17?: It's very doubtful that Universal will release a NC-17 film, especially after the first film broke records and made over $100 million. A NC-17 rating would mean limiting the audience and the theaters that would permit the film to be screened.

"Fifty Shades Darker" is expected in theaters on Feb. 10, 2017.
