The latest incarnation of "The Last Man on Earth" has fans wondering if the surprise cameo by Will Ferrell left him alive or dead.

According to TV Guide, Episode 3 is "Dead Man Walking" and will air on broadcast network Fox next Sunday, Oct. 11 at 9:30 p.m. EDT.

There is no shortage of laughter and surprises on the show thus far, especially given that most of Season 2 has been the Phil and Carol show. But now they have reunited with the group, the real comedy can pick right back up where it left off last year. That's not to say that the past two episodes have not been hilarious, though, because they have been.

Since Phil and Carol have reunited, as reported by IGN, they are on the hunt for their group who left a note that they were in Malibu. But when they found them and saw the new person Gordon, which was played by Will Ferrell in what can only be assumed was a cameo, the reuniting with the group had a very quick hiccup.

It was Carol who snuck down to their beachside camp and yelled, "Boo," which in turn gave Gordon a heart attack and caused him to fall over. This led fans to believe that he was dead, but that is yet to be seen.

So now, in the next episode, TV Guide reports Carol is already on the path to being the old Phil, with quirky actions that lead to much more serious situations. Next Sunday, Carol will tell what appears to be an innocent little lie. But that might prove to be a little less innocent than she thinks and will put her in an awkward situation, considering the lie was telling them that Phil was dead.

Fans can watch the video below for that awkward moment when Carol might have killed Gordon.
