The holiday season is fast approaching and things have been pretty much busier for developers of video games all competing to take on the top spot this season.

According to the research group Nielsen, the holiday season is probably the perfect time to get that much-sought video game you've always wanted. While we're on it, this may also be the perfect time to reveal the news that "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" beats "Fallout 4" in the most-sought video game for the holiday season.

Based on Nielsen's statistics, the "Assassin's Creed: Syndicate" landed on the third spot followed by "Need for Speed" and "StarWars: Battlefront" subsequently. "Rise of the Tomb Raider" came in at sixth place followed by "Rock Band 4."

According to VG247, the survey data was collected from 4,800 gamers, aged seven to 54 years old, from Aug. 24 until Sept. 9.

Wii U took the most number of titles for the holiday season, listing at least four games including "Yoshi's Woolly World," "Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival," "Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash" and "Devil's Third."

Xbox One, on the other hand, has hyped up the season with one entry title, the "Halo 5: Guardians." PlayStation 4 also took in one title, which is the "Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection."

PC held on two titles "Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void" and "Anno 2205." PS Vita fans can choose between "Corpse Party: Blood Drive" and "Code: Realize - Guardians of Rebirth." Lastly, titles for 3DS include "Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden," "The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes" and "Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon."

According to Gamespot, Nielsen based their survey for the "Most-Anticipated Games" on awareness and purchase intent as well as feedback from the consumers. Meaning, the 4,800 participants were asked questions about familiarity with the game, their drive and willingness to buy it as well as their verdict once they have tried the game. All of these factors have been carefully considered in order to obtain a legitimate survey on who will come out on top.

As indicated on the survey, "Nielsen Game Rank represents the overall anticipation level among gamers on each platform, based on a combination of several key measures. The percent value shown reflects how strong the overall anticipation is for the title, relative to the pre-release anticipation levels of all previous titles that released on the platform."
