American Idol 2014 Season 13 Winners, Judges, and Recap: Who Went Home Last Night? Judges Reveal Childhood Photos
On the episode of narrowing down to eleven contestants, the American Idol Season 13 judges shared something very special and nostalgic on Thursday evening (March 7).
Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick Jr. revealed their adorable childhood photos, while they fondly reminisced about the music they were listening to growing up. The "Jenny from the Block" singer, who grew up in the gritty Bronx, recalled enjoying listening to the 1973 Chicago song, "Saturday in the Park."
"My mother used to play this song... 'Saturday in the Park,' think it was the Fourth of July," said J.Lo, humming out the first few lines. "My birthday is in July so I felt like it was about me a little bit."
"And I love Saturdays... and I love the park," she added.
The Grammy Award-winning country singer remembered forming the "imaginary rock band" when he was a child in New Zealand and Australia. However, Urban mentioned that sadly, he was the only member in the band, Rock Fever. "I wrote the name on my parents' garage door," he said. "My dad was livid."
Lastly, New Orleans native Harry Connick Jr. thought of the song "When the Saints Go Marching In," which always reminded him of home. "It's my football team and the first thing I learned on the piano," said the renowned singer, who started learning piano at age three and was performing with a local jazz band by age 10.
Florida Native Emily Piriz, who received the least votes after singing a Jennifer Lopez hit on Wednesday and was left to "sing for her life" with "Stars" by Grace Potter, was eliminated from the competition. The 18-year-old's performance was shaky and the panelists made a decision not to use a "save card" on her.
