MTV Movie Awards Show 2014: Nominees, Predicted Winners, Best Shirtless Performance?
The nominees for the 2014 MTV Movie Awards were recently released. The awards night is set for April 13. This year's list of nominees combines the biggest blockbusters along with other powerhouses from this year's award season. The biggest favorites this year include American Hustle and The Wolf of Wall Street. Both movies have already taken home successes from other award shows. The blockbuster The Hunger Games: Catching Fire also had some nominations for MTV despite not having a good showing at other awards ceremonies. Now that the nominees have been released, the power to decide the winners lies with the voters.
For Movie of the Year, the Oscar's Best Film 12 Years a Slave is in contention although the frontrunner spot favors the other 3 movies that raked in major profits on the big screen, including American Hustle, The Hobbit, and The Hunger Games. Jennifer Lawrence leads the pack for Best Female Performance for The Hunger Games while Amy Adams of American Hustle and Sandra Bullock of Gravity are the expected potential upset winners. The Academy's Best Supporting Actress Lupita Nyong'o might also garner some votes after her recent success.
For the Best Male Performance, Leonardo DiCaprio is expected to avenge his defeat at the Academy Awards. However, Matthew McConaughey is also nominated for the award along with Bradley Cooper. Josh Hutcherson is most likely to pull the biggest upset surprise after his successful team up with Jennifer Lawrence in The Hunger Games. For the Best Breakthrough Performance, Michael B. Jordan is nominated for a win for Fruitvale Station while Miles Teller is also expected to get some votes for The Spectacular Now.
The MTV Movie Awards is also known for giving out unconventional awards including the Best Kiss, Best Fight, Best Scared Ass-Sh*t Performance, Best On-Screen Duo, Best Shirtless Performance, WTF Moment, Best Villain and Best On-Screen Transformation. Fan votes are expected to pour in over the next few weeks and eventually determine the best for each category.
