New rumors and suspicions have been circulating around Apple and one of its most important products: the MacBook Pro. The rumors tell of upcoming changes, all of which aim to improve the company's appeal and to push new products unto the market. However, the changes could also deter buyers if prices do not change.

According to Apple Insider, sources are reporting that Apple has decided to discontinue the 13-inch screen MacBook Pro without a retina display. The older model will be discontinued in the second half of 2014, according to sources, which are linked to a Taiwan-based supplier.

The report states, "The sources pointed out that Apple has been reducing its MacBook Pro prices, narrowing the price gap between the MacBook Pro and the one equipped with Retina. Apple stopped producing the 15-inch MacBook Pro in 2013 and will end production of its 13-inch model in 2014."

Apple will continue to offer the newer Retina models, which feature a thinner design, only solid-state storage but lack optical disc drives. Yet, according to CrossMap and Apple Insider, Apple will fill in the gap with a new MacBook Air model. The new laptop will have a larger 12-inch Retina screen and will feature an "ultra-slim clamshell form factor." The new MacBook Air will be released sometime in June of this year, more than likely during the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference.

Another new feature soon to be available for MacBook Pros will feature better displays thanks to a software update. According to 9 to 5 Mac, the coming OS X Maverick version 10.9.3 will provide notable enhancements for users of Macs connected to 4K-resolution monitors. They report that the new features will make content much sharper than before. "The screen pushes double the resolution in the same amount of space in order to provide the user with sharper graphics," they write.
