BlackBerry Priv Release Date: Accessories List Surface, BB Smartphone To Be Unveiled Soon?
Blackberry is set for a comeback. The company has been quiet as of late, but they've been hard at work creating the newest premium mobile to join their impressive roster: Blackberry Priv.
The upcoming smartphone is a new trailblazing effort for the company as the Priv is Blackberry's very first Android device, a report from Phone Arena said. They've got high hopes for the handset as revealed by Blackberry CEO John Chen during the panel interview at the Code/Mobile conference yesterday.
According to Chen, the company's goal is to sell five million units every year to profit. Recent earning reports showed that Blackberry only sold 800,000 units in the second quarter, which makes the goal more difficult to reach at the end of the financial year.
The company is unable to reach its goal at the end of the year, the Priv might be the last of the Blackberry smartphones in the market, said Chen.
According to a report from CNET, the CEO shared a few details about their upcoming device Blackberry Priv, including the origins of its unique name, which the company derived from "privacy" and "privilege." This suggests that Blackberry will continue its emphasis on security, particularly with subscriptions to Blackberry Enterprise Server.
Aesthetically, it's an interesting phone taking the contemporary style of touch screens with a 5.5-inch display, and fusing it with Blackberry's classic design with Priv's slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
Being powered up by Android is a definite advantage for the new Blackberry as it offers more flexibility and endless more applications for the device. Users will be able to download from the extensive Google Play store and feature the common apps on the market previously unavailable to Blackberry smartphones.
""I think that everybody loved the BlackBerry 10, they really do, but there's not enough apps," Chen admitted in a video posted by CNET, also revealing that the new Priv will feature "the latest Qualcomm specs and the cameras and other good stuff."
While not much else has been revealed including price and hardware, a report from Phone Arena unveiled the accessories for the new handset along with its model codes.
Among those announced are: ACC-62174-001 Blackberry Priv Leather Holster, ACC-62172-001 Blackberry Priv Leather Pocket Black, ACC-62172-002 Blackberry Priv Leather Pocket Tan, ACC-62170-002 Blackberry Priv Slide-Out Hard Shell Lagoon Blue, ACC-62170-003 Blackberry Priv Slide-Out Hard Shell, Military Green, ACC-62170-001 Blackberry Priv Slide-Out Hard Shell Black, ACC-62174-001 BlackBerry Priv Leather Holster, ACC-62175-001 - BlackBerry Priv Sync Pod W/1.2m USB Cable, and ACC-62178-001 - BlackBerry Priv Sync Pod Nest.
