The Battle Round competition on Season 9 of "The Voice" is set to begin next week.

With Blind Auditions now over and teams established for coaches Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, all the season's drama now kicks off in earnest. Assuming producers can match the energy and excitement generated over the first few episodes, it's shaping up to be one grand season.

The Hollywood Reporter notes each coach started Monday night's episode with just two spots on their teams remaining.

Shelton quickly added rock 'n' roller Dustin Christensen to his stable on the strength of his Neil Diamond-like style. Later, Shelton beat out rumored new love interest Stefani for the rights to country and rock artist Blaine Mitchell, who belted out a sterling rendition of Train's "Drops of Jupiter."

Dustin Monk later revealed he entered the competition feeling like the Blind Auditions offered him his best pathway to stardom because "his voice doesn't fit his look." Despite his initial hesitation, Monk's version of Gary Clark Jr.'s "Bright Lights" had Levine and Shelton fighting over his services, before he ended it by tabbing Levine.

16-year-old Shelby Brown had all the coaches vying for her services on the strength of her performance of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals' "Star," to which she interjected more than a fair measure of her country style. Ultimately, she settled on joining Levine's team.

In time, Stefani bagged candy store owner Chase Kerby, after the falsetto he registered during his rendition of Coldplay's "The Scientist" caught her attention. Country singer Summer Schappell was her last addition.

Later, Williams completed his team by adding Amy Vachal, the daughter of a former Grateful Dead cover band member, and Sydney Rhames, who drew raves for her version of Ed Sheeran's "Photograph."
