'Jane the Virgin' Season 2 Spoilers & Premiere Date Highlights: Episode 1 Will Reveal Sin Rostro's Motive For Kidnapping Jane's Baby?
Fans of "Jane the Virgin" can expect to find Jane in the middle of more family drama and a love triangle when Season 2 debuts on Monday.
During the Season 1 finale, Jane finally gave birth to a baby boy named Mateo, but her newborn was suddenly kidnapped by Sin Rostro. Meanwhile, Petra (Yael Grobglas) took a sample of Rafael's (Justin Baldoni) sperm from the fertility clinic, while Jane's parents, Xiomara (Andrea Navedo) and Rogelio (Jaime Camil), admitted that they got drunk and eloped in Las Vegas.
In the upcoming season premiere, viewers will finally learn why Sin Rostro kidnapped Jane's newborn son and what Petra plans to do with Rafael's swimmers. Meanwhile, Jane will be torn between giving Michael a second chance or falling for the dangerous Rafael.
During an exclusive interview over the summer that was published this week on The Huffington Post, executive producer opened up about what's to come in Season 2.
"I'm excited for everybody to see all of the surprises that we have in store, like Petra's got a really twisted and fun and emotional arc this year," said the showrunner.
"We have some really good twists and turns with Rogelio [too]... He decides to move on to his passion project after 'Passions of Santos' ends, and I think his passion project is surprising and will bring us some more comedy," she added.
In addition, Urman told Entertainment Weekly that the premiere will address Sin Rostro's motive behind kidnapping baby Mateo.
"It wasn't some random act of crazy," explains Urman. "Sin Rostro took him for a specific reason and once that is resolved, different things get launched as a result. You definitely haven't seen the last of Sin Rostro, I can tell you that."
Series star Gina Rodriguez also hinted that Jane might just fall for Adam Rodriquez's character on the show.
"Maybe she needs a third love interest. Where's Adam Rodriguez when you need him? You know what I'm saying? Maybe a little Diego Boneta?" said the actress weeks before it was confirmed that Adam Rodriquez had actually been casted on the show.
Premiere Date:
Season 2 of "Jane the Virgin" will premiere on Monday, Oct. 12 EDT on The CW.
