Powerball Numbers and Results Oct 10, 2015: Watch Live Stream of Drawing for $60M Jackpot
Saturday’s chance to make big money playing Powerball is here. The grand prize is currently at $60 million, with a cash value of $38.4 million.
Last Wednesday’s winning numbers were 18, 30, 40, 48 and 52; and the Powerball was 9. There were 430,900 regular winners, and $7,311,904 in non-jackpot money was won.
There are actually nine ways to play Powerball. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 293 million. The odds, however, of simply doubling your money on a $2 ticket are 1 in 38.
As the Contra Costa Times reports, a Californian couple in Antioch just became millionaires while shopping for groceries.
While Nancy Savioni picked out some items for purchase, her husband Duane put down $20 for some Powerball tickets at the same Antioch Raley's grocery store. After making her purchases, Nancy saw that she still had $8 left and, considering that the Powerball jackpot was at around $300 million, she figured she should go ahead and get another ticket. "What the heck," she said to herself, before picking up a ticket that ended up winning her and her husband $1,771,065.
Another lucky lottery winner was Julie Leach, a 50-year-old fiberglass factory worker in Michigan. Upon realizing that she won $310.5 million Leach immediately decided to resign from work, which she called a "nasty, dirty job."
As NBC News reports, Leach said, "I quit automatically. I was done."
Leach, who plans on buying land to bring all of her family together, understands the gravity of her new wealth. "I feel blessed. Scared to death, but blessed. I don't want it to be a curse, I want it to be a blessing," she said.
Although, Leach definitely has some good intentions and a fare amount of humility tied to her new financial situation, the Powerball winner would do well to read a Forbes article called “10 Things To Do When You Win the Lottery.” No. 3 on a list that includes living within a budget and investing prudently is avoiding sudden lifestyle changes, such as going on a big trip of quitting your job.
