Samsung Galaxy Grand On Specs & Price: 5.1-Inch LTE Budget Smartphone Gets TENAA Certification
Chinese telecommunications regulator TENAA has now certified the Samsung Galaxy Grand On. In the process, most of the budget smartphone's rumored specs have been confirmed.
According to TENAA's official certification website via Times News, the Grand On parades a 5.1-Inch thin-film transistor 720 x 1280 HD display and runs on the Android 5.1 Lollipop right off the bat. It boasts an eight-megapixel rear camera with CMOS sensor and support for 1080p Full HD video recording while its front-facing unit has a graphic resolution of five megapixels.
Samsung's upcoming entry-level flagship has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory. This shouldn't be a red flag for potential buyers, though, as the handset's micro-SD slot expands storage space up to 128GB.
The Grand On comes with the usual smartphone features such as support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPRS, LTE FDD, TD-LTE and other EDGE networks.
Unfortunately, the TENAA listing did not specify the handset's battery capacity nor it's CPU. However, the datasheet did mention that it would be powered by a dual-core 1.3 GHz processor, which prior rumors suggested was the quad-core 1.3 GHz Exynos 3475.
There was also no word on the handset's official cost. Although, the Grand On was valued at $104 on Indian e-commerce website Zauba just a month ago, as per SamMobile. While not the actual retail price, the figure does provide an idea on what consumers can expect to shed from their wallets.
At any rate, the Grand On's recent TENAA certification means the South Korean tech giant will be unveiling the handset sooner rather than later. Bear in mind that this is the exact model that was previously called the Galaxy O5. Its sibling, the Galaxy O7 with build number SM-G600, is now known as the Galaxy Mega On, which looks to be Samsung's next generation budget phablet.
As listed on Zauba, the Mega On's unofficial specs include a 5.5-inch HD touchscreen display, Qualcomm's 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 410 on chip, 1.5GB of RAM and 3,000 mAh battery. It sports a 13-megapixel rear camera and a five-megapixel selfie shooter.
Another upcoming entry-level offering from Samsung, that has been freshly leaked online is the Galaxy J3.
The successor to the Galaxy J2 comes with a 4.7-inch screen, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable storage space. Its eight-megapixel primary camera with LED flash supports autofocus, touch focus and face detection while its five-megapixel front camera shoots Full HD clips, per the GFXBench database as relayed by Phone Arena.
Additionally, the J3 is powered by the 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 410 SoC with four cores while its graphics is taken care of by the Adreno 306 GPU. It is still unclear, though, if the J3 will have the same Super AMOLED screen fitted on the J2.
