'Rocket League' PS4, PC Gameplay: DeLorean, Burnt Rubber Rocket Trail Featured in 'Back to the Future' DLC Pack [Video]
It's not so often that a game developer is able to collaborate with a famous brand, let alone include one of its famed icons in the video game itself.
According to GameRant, game developer Psyonix Studios acquired a partnership with "Back to the Future" in the form of a licensing partnership that will enable the studio to use the DeLorean Battle-Car in the upcoming "Rocket League" small DLC pack. For $1.99, players will be able to download the feature including "Burnt Rubber" Rocket Trail and, of course, the DeLorean itself.
Psyonix Studios has been very open about their eagerness to take home the "Back to the Future" icon, saying that it will help boost the game's popularity. The addition of the DeLorean time machine has also urged the studio to develop the game in such a way that it can compensate to the presence of the time machine.
The partnership between "Rocket League" and "Back to the Future" will likely bring fans of both to take on the game for themselves. In "Rocket League's" premium pack, the presence of "Back to the Future's" DeLorean will be the third premium DLC from the developer. Prior to this, in the previous version of the game, they also had the Supersonic DLC pack and the Revenge of the Battle-Cars DLC pack.
The iconic "Back to the Future" motion picture is actually not new to such world. Marty McFly and his friends are also set to grace "Lego Dimensions" along with a series of Telltale adventure games. Psyonix is dedicated on providing the excitement through action-packed games for their fans, and they have no intentions of lowering that concept with or without iconic guests on their video games.
According to the PlayStation Blog, the DeLorean will make its first appearance on the "Rocket League" game on Oct. 21, which is also the same day Marty McFly made the historic travel back to the future.
In a statement from Psyonix Studios, featured via the PlayStation Blog, he said, "Hopefully, you'll never forget your time with the DeLorean Time Machine either, as we've worked meticulously to recreate its look, feel, and the folding jet-wheels just as they appeared in the original motion picture trilogy."
The PlayStation Blog also offered fans the Revenge of the Battle-Cars DLC Pack, should they want to experience more of the game before the DeLorean Time Machine comes out. The Revenge DLC pack will cost $3.99 in the U.S.
