'Destiny' Update: Patch 2.0.1 Brings Microtransaction, Fixes Weapon Issues & More Changes
Bungie has been busy about the latest developments on "Destiny." Besides the developer's list of fixes and changes on the game, according to Game Rant, it is also hosting one of the game's major endeavors yet in the form of microtransactions.
Just recently, the game was taken offline for a good two hours. When it came back, it had some additions that included the Iron Banner as well as the anticipated patch 2.0.1. The patch contained several updates that primarily highlighted the presence of the Eververse Trading Company as well as some fixed issues on weapons, quests and bounties.
Destiny's microtransaction feature was also introduced through Tess Everis, after she came back from her vacation and positioning herself again in the Tower.
According to a report from VG247, there's also a new currency called Silver. The Silver currency can only be bought using real money and cannot be earned by playing quests and conquering challenges.
Despite requiring players to use real money in purchasing Silver, Bungie will initially give players 400 Silver to start off. They can use these to buy rare-quality emotes. However, anything the player needs in excess of what the 400 Silver can buy will have to be at their own expense.
At the moment, the only transaction you can make using Silver is the purchase of the eighteen emotes. The "emotes" will be in the form of unique dances or set of moves.
The free 400 Silver can be expected by players upon launching. To give you an idea of how much the Silver currency costs, take note that 500 Silver will cost you $4.99 or £3.99, 1,000 Silver will cost you $9.99 or £7.99 but with additional 100 Silver upon purchase. If you wish to buy 2,000 Silver, prepare to shed $19.99 or £15.99 with additional 300 Silver.
For now, there are two types of "emotes," and they are the Legendary Emotes and Rare Emotes. As of now, there are two emotes under Legendary: Enthusiastic Dance and Slow Clap.
According to GameRant, another currency has also been introduced called Glass Needle. The Glass Needle currency will be used to activate the Twist Fate feature. The said feature will enable players to maximize their exotic armor experience, but subsequently loses options where shotgun weapons are concerned. Patch 2.0.1 has also introduced players an easier way to unlock the Crucible Weekly Bounties, something that will be highly appreciated by gamers.
