'Star Wars: Battlefront' Gameplay: PC Version Does Not Support VOIP
If there's one thing that makes a video game even more interesting, it is the players' ability to communicate with other players while they experience the fun. However, did "Star Wars: Battlefront" forgot to include VOIP on its PC version?
According to Attack of the Fan Boy, it has already been confirmed that the ever-useful VOIP feature will not be present this time. This can only mean that players, who need to communicate with each other, may have to settle on using third party communication platforms such as Skype.
EA Star Wars confirmed this by posting an answer to an inquiry whether players can chat with each other during the game. EAStarWars answered on Twitter, "You can choose your favorite third party software to communicate with friends on PC."
However, it's not only "Star Wars: Battlefront" that is having this major setback. In fact, most EA games and some of the current video games of this generation have already removed this feature.
More than missing the VOIP feature, players find it hard to communicate and excel on their games without the support from their team. Despite having a third party platform, it is very unusual that the current and new PC games do not have this very important feature.
In a traditional PC game, an in-game chat system is normally present, but for some reason, developers have slowly taken it out of concept, giving players the predicament of finding the best third party communication platform for their games.
In another Twitter post by EAStarWars, the company, however, confirmed that those who are currently playing on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 can use the built-in party system for in-game chat.
Apparently, the PC version is the only one being deprived of the much-needed feature. One player even pointed out that it may be very difficult to man a team of 20 gamers without actually being able to communicate with each other.
Meanwhile, the "Star Wars: Battlefront" beta version has already ended, according to GameSpot. The six-day trial period has been largely joined by over nine million players from different gaming platforms.
The staggering number of players has also given "Star Wars: Battlefront" the record of being the most played beta in EA's line of games.
Battlefront is also issuing a new DLC pass, said to be worth $50. The DLC pass will feature expansions for the "Star Wars: Battlefront," so make sure to watch out for it.
