OnePlus Mini Specs & Features: ClearForce Technology, Gorilla Glass 3, Helio X10 Chipset Confirmed?
The upcoming OnePlus smartphone continues to make headlines as details of the hotly anticipated device get leaked.
According to a report from GSM Arena, the specs of the upcoming OnePlus inadvertently made its way to the news when Amazon India posted the listing for the phone ahead of its official release. Although the website took it down after a while, the details have already been captured and spread throughout the tech circuit.
This time around, the name of the handset is different. Last dubbed the OnePlus X, the Amazon listing showed the team has decided to revert back to the original model name OnePlus Mini. This upcoming smartphone delivers a sleek and feature-packed device with a five-inch 1080p display and Gorilla Glass 3.
Most notably, the OnePlus Mini will be fitted with Synaptics' ClearForce technology, the same pressure-sensitive screen technology as Apple's 3D Touch feature in the latest iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. This impressive addition to the OnePlus mobile phone should keep it competitive with the high-end models in the market.
Powered by the MediaTek MT6795 chipset, also known as the Helio X10, the OnePlus Mini will also be fitted with a 2.2 GHz octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU and a PowerVR G6200 GPU. It will include 2GB of RAM and a 2,450 mAh battery. The smartphone will also run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow as soon as it is out on shelves.
A report from Tech Times expounds on the latest speculation surrounding the OnePlus Mini, including the intriguing Side Touch functionality that was first seen in the acclaimed Samsung Galaxy S6. In the new OnePlus device, the side screens provide users with the option to view and navigate particular apps such as messages and calls without exiting their actions on the main screen.
Another interesting addition to the handset is the dual front-facing speakers that are geared for music lovers.
The OnePlus Mini is a handset that's full of potential, and the company's co-founder Carl Pei believes their line of smartphones has what it takes to go the distance. In an interview with USA Today last August, Pei said he thinks competition will narrow down in the next several years.
"In 5 years I think it will be Apple, OnePlus and Samsung because there's no more room in the market," he explained. "Everyone else would've died because they couldn't reach the scale they wanted fast enough or they couldn't have a margin to sustain their business."
The OnePlus Mini is expected to be released before the end of 2015, according to a post from Vine Report.
A recent tweet by the official OnePlus Twitter account revealed that a new launch is coming up saying, "See you October 29, London."
A photo of an "X" was posted along with the tweet, teasing a device called OnePlus X, which may or may not be the same as OnePlus Mini.
