Pangu has successfully created and released an untethered jailbreak tool for iOS 9 devices. This is the first public iOS 9 jailbreak solution to be released.

The Chinese team of developers known as Pangu has released jailbreak tools in the past. According to 9to5 Mac, this jailbreak tool is currently only available to be installed on Windows computers, but a Mac jailbreak tool is likely coming soon.

The jailbreak tool released by Pangu will work for iOS versions 9.0-9.02. Reports from users say that the jailbreak is working on the latest iPhone, the iPhone 6s. 

Over on Reddit, users have put together a Wiki page that helps users who are interested in jailbreaking their iOS 9 device. The page will be updated as more information on the Pangu exploits become available, Forbes reports.

Before jailbreaking, users are reminded to backup all of their files, apps and information to either the iCloud or iTunes. After performing a backup, users will need to turn off the Find iPhone feature, disable Passcode and Touch ID and put the device into Airplane mode.

After downloading the jailbreak tool to a Windows computer, they will then attach their device to the PC with the USB cable that works with their iOS device. 

The jailbreak community has been eager to find an iOS 9 jailbreak tool. One company, Zerodium, offered up to $1 million for an iOS 9 jailbreak tool. 

Pangu was not eligible for Zerodium's $1 million prize because their jailbreak requires users to connect to a PC through a USB cable and not fully remote like Zerodium asked. 

Months before iOS 9 was even released, the jailbreak community worried that it would be nearly impossible to jailbreak iOS 9 because Apple was focused on making iOS 9 the most secure mobile operating system yet. Pangu has found exploits in the iOS 9 system enabling them to jailbreak it.
