BlackBerry Priv Release Date: Pre-Registration Begins, Dual-Curved Screen & 3410 mAh Battery Confirmed
It's only been recently that the market officially got wound of the upcoming BlackBerry mobile that's the first to be powered by Android. Now, interested users can get ahead of the field and pre-register on the BlackBerry website.
According to a report from Droid-Life, those who sign up for pre-registration will be the first to know when the hotly-anticipated phone finally hits the market.
The pre-registration page also offered the specs that BlackBerry fans will be able to look forward to in the high-end handset.
"Priv has the authentic BlackBerry keyboard, legendary security, streamlined communications and productivity, combined with the wide world of Google Play store apps," the description on the website said. "It has been engineered with the world's finest technology and packaged in an ultra-thin, ergonomically perfect device with a keyboard hidden by SmartSlide technology."
Other features confirmed by BlackBerry Priv include a 5.4-inch dual-curved screen, 3,410 mAh battery capacity, touch-screen capabilities and slide-out keyboard, Schneider-Kreuznach® certified camera and extraordinary audio quality.
The exclusive DTEK by BlackBerry warning system app will also help the users feel more secure with their device. It's one of the priorities of BlackBerry to offer secure handsets to the public as CEO John Chen shared during the Code/Mobile conference, according to a previous report from Latin Post.
"Two or three things that I need to solve for the company to do well again is I have to go cross platform, I have to solve the lack of applications, and I can't let go of the security aspect," Chen explained, assuring the BlackBerry fans that the most significant feature of their handsets will not be abandoned. "We wanted to bring the BlackBerry knowhow in security - the whole stack - to Android, recognizing that we need the apps there and the world is about integrating now."
He added, "I'm doing what I'm doing to take advantage of what the industry has to offer without giving up the security and privacy features BlackBerry is known for."
The Latin Post report also divulged other specs not confirmed in the pre-registration page. The BlackBerry Priv will reportedly run on Adreno 418 GPU with Snapdragon 808, plus a hefty $630 price tag that's in-line with the company's high-end collection of devices.
"We'll make the phone financially affordable to get, whether that's by installments or something else," Chen said during the conference.
The BlackBerry Priv is slated for release later in 2015.
