Windows 10 Smartphones: VAIO, Acer, NuAns, Thirdwave, Freetel, Mouse Computer Support Microsoft's New OS
At a recently concluded press event in Japan, Microsoft Japan president Takuya Hirano announced several names of established and newbie OEMs that are developing a lineup of new Windows 10 smartphones.
According to K-Tai, the roster of mobile makers includes VAIO, Acer, NuAns, Thirdwave, Freetel and Mouse Computer. Some showcased their pre-existing handsets while others took the opportunity to tease their upcoming mobile offerings.
For its part, VAIO brought a prototype to the event and stated that its Windows Mobile 10 smartphone is currently underway. The upcoming handset is allegedly aimed at the business sector and will most probably come out in early 2016.
The Japanese PC manufacturer and former Sony Corporation subsidiary just joined the mobile market this year. Still, it has been making great strides. Its second smartphone will mark the company's second partnership with a major mobile platform developer, as per G for Games.
Meanwhile, Acer showed off the Liquid M330. The handset sports a 4.5-inch 480 x 854 LCD display, 1 GB of RAM and a rear-facing fingerprint sensor. It is flanked on both sides by an eight-megapixel camera while being powered by Qualcomm's SD 210 chipset with four cores and the Adreno 304 GPU. The Liquid M330 is rumored to release this December.
NuAns, the most junior of the group with only 15 employees, introduced the NuAns NEO. The wood-trimmed designed handset comes in several albeit unspecified colors and has the rare distinction of not being a Windows Reference Design smartphone, WM Power User reported.

Next in line is the Diginnos Mobile DG-W10M by Thirdwave. It features a five-inch 720 x 1280 resolution screen, a quad-core CPU and 1 GB of RAM with 16 GB expandable storage space. It is equipped with an eight-megapixel rear camera while its two-megapixel front-facing unit can take decent photos and videos. The handset also supports 4G LTE, although more connectivity features are expected to be revealed soon.
Freetel was not to be outdone and came prepared with the Katana 02. The model was already shown off five months ago with a five-inch screen, 2 GB of RAM with 16 GB internal memory and a 2,600 mAh battery. The Katana 02 will have a $250 price tag when it launches.
Mouse Computer was also present at the event. The PC OEM is sure to be working on its own Windows 10 device after unveiling the mid-tier MADOSMA Windows Phone 8.1 smartphone in May 2015.
