AT&T Proposes NumberSync, Gadgets to Share the Same Numbers
AT&T is proving that the quality of network services doesn't only have to be through the services of over-the-air performances but also the ability to give consumers a more practical way to use their phone numbers.
According to TechTimes, AT&T has been working on integrating one phone number among several gadgets. This means that the phone number of an individual consumer can be synced to his tablet and other devices that uses phone numbers.
AT&T calls it the "NumberSync," and while it may sound complex at the moment, consumers may eventually find the usefulness of the service especially when they have several wireless gadgets.
In the AT&T Consumer Blog, the network company said, "We know you may not want a different phone number for your other devices. Since the NumberSync operates in our wireless network, it is not dependent on a Bluetooth connection to your smartphone. Your devices don't need to be near each other and NumberSync will work even if your primary phone is turned off or disconnected from the network."
They also highlighted the few extras the NumberSync will eventually offer its consumers.
Once the NumberSync is implemented, consumers will not have to worry about receiving texts and calls as anything that is compatible and is connected to their smartphone can literally receive the messages.
The worries of a primary phone running out of battery shouldn't be a hindrance as all synced devices will be able to support and receive messages.
The blog also stated, "Because it is a network-based service, NumberSync won't be limited to just one device or operating system. You'll only need to check one voicemail box (assuming you have friends that still leave voicemails)."
Apple Insider, on the other hand, said that AT&T didn't actually singled out the Apple brand, in fact, it is available to any compatible device regardless of its operating system or the device's manufacturer. They also mentioned that the service will not put on extra charge or anything above the $10-per-device fee of the network carrier.
However, AT&T said that for Apple devices, the tech company may need to do some readjustment on the technical side of their devices if they wish to be integrated with the new AT&T feature.
According to the website, "The iOS Phone and messages apps would need to be modified to support AT&T's NumberSync Network." If the endeavor pushes through, this might be one of the most practical things the network carrier offered to its consumers.
