After a promising 2-0 start to the season, the Dallas Cowboys have hit a huge roadblock. Injuries, lack of quarterback depth and a hard schedule have all played a big factor in a recent losing streak.

Obviously the injuries to Tony Romo and Dez Bryant have been the most detrimental. Since losing Romo, Jason Garrett's squad is 0-3 with losses to the Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots. Both Romo and Bryant will be back eventually, but the Cowboys just have to weather this storm and stay afloat in the NFC East.

So, just how much trouble are the Cowboys in?

Brandon Weeden got his shot, and honestly, he didn't play all that bad. Weeden played 100 percent not to lose. He only threw two interceptions in his three starts with a 72.4 completion percentage and 92.2 passer rating. Again, Weeden didn't play bad -- he just didn't do enough to win the games. Now Matt Cassel will get his chance to resurrect his career.

By far the biggest disappointment on offense has been wide receiver Terrance Williams. Williams has a huge responsibility without Bryant, and he's simply not getting open. So far this season Williams only has 14 catches. Everything is going underneath in the Cowboys' passing attack, but that just took a big hit. Lance Dunbar is out for the season, and Darren McFadden will have to take over his pass-catching role.

Even with a great offensive line, the Cowboys running game isn't producing anything what it did last year. The Cowboys rank 19th in rushing yards, and Joseph Randle hasn't had a single game this season in which he's eclipsed the 90-yard mark. Letting DeMarco Murray walk as a free agent was probably a wise decision considering his huge salary cap hits, but the Cowboys' running game simply doesn't have the same threat as last season.

As the Cowboys are on a three-game losing streak, another NFC East team finds themselves heading in a different direction. The New York Giants have won three games in a row in impressive fashion. Eli Manning is playing like an early MVP candidate, and the Giants have by far the most accomplished head coach in the division, Tom Coughlin.

The best thing going for the Cowboys right now is their divisional record. Jerry Jones' team is 2-0 against the NFC East with wins over the Philadelphia Eagles and Giants. If the Cowboys can continue to dominate the NFC East, they should be able to win the division. The Cowboys get a much needed bye week this weekend, and they face the Giants in Week 7. Last season the Cowboys were 4-2 in the division.

On the other hand, the Cowboys suffered just four losses the entire season last year. They have three defeats already this season.

Greg Hardy's return from suspension definitely brings a much need improved pass rush. The Cowboys were able to sack Tom Brady five times in the first half last game in Hardy's first game back. The Cowboys will lean on their defense now far more than they did last season. Hardy is in the final year of his contract, so there's a good chance the Cowboys will re-sign him this offseason.

One thing is for sure, we're in for a great finish in the NFC East.
