The OnePlus X is making a case for being a hotly-anticipated device even among the competitive market of smartphones. Now, it's been revealed that the upcoming OnePlus handset will be sporting an affordable price tag at $220.

According to GSM Arena, the report came from well-known Chinese leakster Leaksfly who revealed that the newest OnePlus device will cost RMB 1,399 or approximately $220. The information was leaked on the Chinese social media website Weibo.

Most of the details about the device are already posted on the OnePlus X TENAA listing as well. It's revealed that the upcoming handset will feature a quad-core 2.0 GHz processor, 4.99-inch OLED display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, 3 GB RAM, 16 GB internal memory, 13-megapixel/eight-megapixel camera combo and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS.

Photos were also recently posted on the TENAA website offering a closer look at the upcoming OnePlus X. A report from Latin Post showed the OnePlus X aesthetic without a dual rear-facing camera setup. The new smartphone is fitted with a single sensor main camera instead, and the LED flash is placed on the upper-left corner of the device's back panel.

The handset looks to have a metal build with two 2.5D glass panels on either side. Photos show three capacitive buttons at the base of the front panel with a physical button on the edge that's reportedly functions like its predecessor's three-way button.

A previous report from Latin Post also included other features for the device such as a fingerprint sensor at the back.

Earlier this year, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei talked about the new model that the company is crafting after their first two successful smartphones. While the executive didn't reveal specifics, he did talk about it offering a good experience that can compete with other designs in the market - including OnePlus' own.

"It may or may not be (higher spec'd than the OnePlus 2)," he said in an interview with USA Today last August. "When I saw the prototype for that phone I was like 'holy [expletive] that's going to be my daily driver' but then when the OnePlus 2 production version came out it's also super nice, so it's really hard to decide now what to use."

The OnePlus executive also spoke about venturing beyond smartphones and wanting to create connections with other companies saying, "We have a vision where we work with everyone as partners. We can make our software, OxygenOS, compatible with everyone's stuff."

He added, "We almost made fitness trackers but we scrapped it because that is exactly against our open culture. We want to work with other people. By making our own we are already competing with our potential partners before even approaching them and giving them a chance."
