Apple has released a new advertisement for the 3D touch feature on the iPhone 6s.

The 30-second ad continues the company's new tagline, "The only thing that's changed is everything."

In the spot, Apple emphasizes the Peek and Pop gestures, which allow users to preview a new page or post, rather than completely opening the content, by pressing on the screen with varying amounts of force.

The video shows a number of useful ways to utilize the Peek function, like when users want to quickly check a map for a restaurant location from the Messages app, search for a post on Instagram, or look up flight information. Users can even use the feature to preview music, as illustrated by Jamie Foxx's humorous cameo in the ad, which shows the singer listening to his own album "Hollywood: A Dozen Roses."

While the Peek and Pop functions are meant to make actions simple, the features are difficult to explain without the iPhone 6s there to demonstrate. As the ad says, "Pretty much everything you do feels different." That's why some tech sites are saying 3D touch has the potential to revolutionize touchscreens.

TechCrunch believes that, just as the first iPhone changed the game with multi-touch screen functionality, 3D touch adds an entirely new layer altogether.

Just as apps like Snapchat and Tinder introduced new and efficient ways to utilize touch, Apple's new function may influence a new wave of program and application developers. 3D touching could be used in variety of potentially innovative ways, such as in an MRI scan or a virtual textbook. Game developers will likely want to use the technology as well, adding an entire new dimension of control to gaming apps.
