P.Diddy to Produce New ABC Sitcom "The Hustle" Inspired by his Former Assistant
Music and media mogul Sean "P. Diddy" Combs is set to produce an upcoming ABC comedy series tentatively titled "The Hustle," the Hollywood Reporter reports.
The series is inspired by the real-life events of his former assistant Sarah Snedeker who now works as an executive at Comb's media company Revolt Films.
The premise of the show centers on a small-town girl who gets hired to assist a street-educated billionaire business mogul. These exciting new experiences forces the main character to navigate through a foreign world of "extravagance, debauchery, and adventure," says the Hollywood Reporter.
Vibe reports on Friday, Oct. 16, Combs took to Instagram to announce the upcoming series and congratulated Snedeker for her hard work and contribution to the show. Deadline reports Snedeker will also serve as producer to the show and consultant.
Stacey Harman ("The Goldbergs") will write the show's script and be its executive producer while Jeremy Garelick ("The Wedding Ringer") will be directing. Wetpaint reports that Diddy's partnership with ABC on the new comedy series comes on the heels of ABC's announcement of Nicki Minaj also executive producing an ABC Family comedy show about her life.
According to Deadline, Minaj will will executive produce and appear on her own upcoming ABC Family comedy about her family's immigration to the U.S. from Trinidad and her life experience growing up in Queens. The show will reportedly delve into Minaj's journey to becoming a musical icon. The name of the show has yet to be released. On Sept. 30, Minaj took to Instagram to make the announcement about her new show.
The Hollywood reporter notes that shows like "The Hustle" and Nicki Minaj's new series is ABC's attempt to add more unique family comedies "with distinctive voices and dynamics" onto the network.
