‘MasterChef’ Season 5 Judge Graham Elliot Loses 150 Pounds - See Photos Here
At one point in his life, "MasterChef" judge Graham Elliot's weight reached around 400 pounds. But now after undergoing a sleeve gastrectomy, he has lost a total of 147 pounds, People reported.
The celebrity-chef celebrated his weight loss by posting on his Instagram account a shocking before and after photo. He wrote, "Weight Loss Update: down 150 lbs, currently at 255. Thanks everyone for the continued support! #Health #Family #Life #Change."
But Elliot's weight loss cannot only be attributed to his surgery. Following the operation, the Master Chef did some serious lifestyle changes in the form of exercising every other day, running, and filling his "MasterChef" dressing room with dried fruits, seaweed chips, and other healthier snacks instead of the usual candies.
He said, "In the past I would get stressed and ask craft services for cookies and candy. But now I know my stomach is the size of a banana and I need to have food that just gives me energy."
Elliot added, "I can either have a moment of sweetness but feel really bad or I can order something delicious and light like sashimi."
In November of last year, after dropping about 130 pounds, Elliot ran and finished his first 5k race. He felt ecstatic about his achievement and said, "The race was amazing! The feeling of crossing the finish line was a great sense of accomplishment."
But aside from his new physical appearance and healthier condition, Elliot also enjoys the quality time he is able to spend with his family after his weight loss. Since he slimmed down, he no longer has to use the sleep apnea machine he has been using since 2005.
He said, "That's life changing. It was like being chained to the bed - not being able to lean over and hug [my wife] Alie or snuggle with my kids because I have a huge mask on my face."
He has also become a more active father to his sons. He recalled, "At my son Mylo's birthday in January, we were all running around playing tag with his friends. He was telling them, 'My dad is the fastest one here. He can beat us in a race.' That was awesome!"
