Rosie O'Donnell to Join 'Empire' Cast, Set to Do Battle With Cookie Lyon?
Rosie O'Donnell is slated to join the cast of "Empire," and speculation is she will instantly become an intense rival of series costar Taraji P. Henson's Cookie Lyon character.
According to the New York Post, O'Donnell has "already filmed an arc" on the Fox network smash hit series.
"Rosie's been doing a stint on 'Empire,'" said a source, adding she talked about the role Saturday night at a Gotham Comedy Club stand-up gig. "She's playing a character, not herself, and she does have scenes with Cookie."
Star-studded guest starring roles on the hip-hop series are nothing new. Already this season the likes of Chris Rock, Ludacris, Kelly Rowland and Marisa Tomei have appeared, and Tyrese Gibson, Adam Rodriguez and Alicia Keys are all rumored to soon follow.
Getting back in the swing of things may come as a far of therapy for O'Donnell, currently caught in her own real life drama stemming from her problems with her troubled, adopted teenager daughter.
Back in August, Chelsea was reported missing and was later found shacking up with an alleged heroin dealer she met on social media.
"Chelsea just turned 18," O'Donnell reflected during her Gotham stand-up performance. "For adopted children 18 is a magic number. At 18, they're gonna rebel any way they can, any way they can get your attention."
Later, Chelsea ripped her mom as not being "genuine" and as a completely different person in public from the woman she was forced to live with.
None of it has seemed to turn O'Donnell's heart where her daughter is concerned. During her performance she told the audience, "I keep thinking I see Chelsea. When your kid isn't there you see them everywhere."
