Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump is scheduled to host NBC's "Saturday Night Live" on Nov. 7, but one Latino congressman has called for the network to dump his appearance.

U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., wrote to Comcast president Brian Roberts and NBCUniversal president Stephen Burke, stating Trump's appearance is a "level of endorsement that says to America that every hateful and racist thing Donald Trump has said since the moment he launched his campaign is acceptable and no big deal."

Gutierrez's letter reiterated Trump's previous comments about Mexican immigrants, which labeled them as "rapists," "criminals" and "drug dealers." The Illinois Democrat said Trump's comments about Mexicans were reflective of all Latinos and immigrants.

He did acknowledge NBC's decision to severe business relations with the real estate mogul, during the summer, as a result of the Republican presidential candidate's comments.

In late June, NBCUniversal said, "Respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values. Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump. To that end, the annual Miss USA and Miss Universe Pageants, which are part of a joint venture between NBC and Trump, will no longer air on NBC."

NBCUniversal was not the only brand to sever ties with Trump, as ESPN, Macy's, NASCAR, Serta and Univision also ceased business with him.

Gutierrez said "SNL," along withits creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels, is providing Trump's campaign with 90 minutes of free network airtime.

"I think I speak for a lot of Americans, especially immigrant Americans and Latino Americans, when I say that if 'SNL' is allowed to proceed, it would be a huge corporate blunder," Gutierrez wrote.

Gutierrez also mentioned Comcast's meeting with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) when the company had sought to merge with Time Warner. Gutierrez said Comcast representatives spoke about their commitment to the Latino community, and the congressman hopes their remarks were "not some hollow promise."

"Please disinvite him," Gutierrez wrote about Trump.

"Make a statement: Derogatory statements of the nature trumpeted by Trump about any group disqualifies someone from hosting shows on your network. Send a message that racism is not funny and that responsibility to your viewers and the public is more important than ratings. It is a chance for your company -- again -- to show you are committed to your audience in more ways than just the ad revenues they provide you.

"Please do the right thing and dump Trump."

According to a statement from Gutierrez's office, the congressman will speak on the House floor on Wednesday morning to further address Trump. In addition, he plans to introduce a resolution for the CHC to consider in regards to Trump's "SNL" appearance.

On multiple occasions, Gutierrez addressed the House floor to comment Trump's actions along the campaign trial, including ahead Pope Francis' U.S. visit. During the congressman's remarks on Sept. 9, he said Pope Francis is "the antidote to his (Trump's) venom."
