'Switched at Birth' Season 4 Episode 20 Spoilers: Cops Come Into the Scene [Watch]
The upcoming season finale of the ABC Family hit teen-oriented show “Switched at Birth” brings up issues involving new life, love and even the law.
A teaser for episode 20 of season 4, starts off with Toby (Lucas Grabeel) holding his brand new baby boy and ends with a pack of cops rushing in on Bay (Vanessa Marano) and company.
The episode will be a grab bag of emotions with Bay buzzed about being able to show her art work in her very first show, and Daphne (Katie Leclerc) interviewing for an internship that might bring her closer to Quinn, a guy she shared a brief smooch with while volunteering in Mexico.
Daphne’s news isn’t going down well with Mingo (Adam Hagenbuch) who says he wants to punch Quinn in the face.
Tackling subjects as varied as teenage pregnancy, infidelity, and financial insecurity, "Switched at Birth" has dealt with a myriad of factors affecting the contemporary family.
Critics and audiences alike have praised the ways in which the show has also brought issues of the hearing impaired community to a TV audience.
Speaking with Sign Savvy about her interest in bringing deaf culture to her show, Executive Producer Lizzy Weiss said, “I took a class in college called Theater of the Deaf in which we had to perform monologues, songs, and poems in sign language. When I decided to make one of the girls different in some way to create more conflict with her birth family, I instantly knew that I wanted her to be deaf.”
To gather background information, Weiss watched documentaries on deaf history and visited the Marlton School for the Deaf in Los Angeles where she asked students questions about how they lived their lives.
The season finale of “Switched at Birth” airs Oct. 26 on ABC Family at 8 p.m..
