'Captain America: Civil War' News: Daniel Bruhl Reveals Baron Zemo Details
Daniel Bruhl has revealed new details about the upcoming "Captain America" film.
The actor told Business Insider that the film will feature iconic character Baron Zemo without the mask for which the character is most well known.
The mask that Bruhl was referring to is a purple cloak permanently affixed to the character after a vat of powerful adhesive, known as Adhesive X, is spilled all over him during a fight with Captain America.
The actor added that the film is only loosely connected to the comics, and it may surprise some loyal comic fans in the audience.
He said, "You would be surprised, it's different than what you'd think. It's loosely connected to this character. But that's what I like about the Marvel guys, some of the characters and things they're dealing with always reference to current events so my character is from a different area than you would think."
The actor also hinted at the possibility of returning to the Marvel universe, but his ongoing involvement depends on whether or not he is written into future films. This also suggests the character may not meet his demise in the new movie.
Bruhl is currently promoting his upcoming film "Burnt," which is slated to open on Oct. 30. The actor is best known for his work on "Rush," for which he scored Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild nominations. He has also been seen in "Inglourious Basterds," "The Bourne Ultimatum," "A Most Wanted Man," "The Fifth Estate" and "The Face of an Angel."
"Captain America: Civil War" will focus on the aftermath of "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and its effects on the team. The film is said to be more like an "Avengers" movie without the Hulk or Thor than a "Captain America" standalone movie. Spider-Man, the Black Panther and the Winter Soldier will join forces with either Captain America or Iron Man, as the two duke it out. According to early reports, the team will be divided and the heroes will fight each other.
However, it will be interesting to see where Baron Zemo fits in all this chaos, and who the actual villain is. Could Baron Zemo ultimately be the force that ends the teams' feud and unites them?
"Captain America: Civil War" opens on May 6, 2016.
