WWE SmackDown Spoilers, Results for Oct. 22, 2015: NXT Star Debuts; Reigns, Ambrose in Main Event
"WWE SmackDown" wrapped up its latest tapings, and final show before Sunday's "Hell in a Cell," and the broadcast featured the main roster debut of an NXT veteran.
First, the show opened with Kane, as the director of operations, delivering an in-ring promo. He is interrupted by the WWE Tag Team Champion The New Day. For the main event, it was announced The New Day will fight against Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns.
WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins had the first match of the show. He fought against Cesaro in a non-title match. Rollins won his match, which will be used to build momentum as he fights Kane at "Hell in a Cell."
Paige appeared for an in-ring promo. She called out Becky Lynch and Charlotte, her former PCB members. Instead, the Bella Twins surfaced, which led to a one-on-one match between Paige and Nikki Bella. Nikki has a match on Sunday against Divas Champion Charlotte; the twin would go on to defeat Paige.
It was time for more in-ring promos courtesy of Miz TV with The Miz. Dolph Ziggler and Summer Rae were the main, and original, guests of the segment. Ziggler told Summer he's not interested in her. Summer said she's content with Ziggler's decision, as she has found a new man. Her new man is NXT star Tyler Breeze.
Immediately after "SmackDown's" taping, WWE.com announced the news of his debut during Tuesday's tapings.
For those unfamiliar with Breeze, he signed his WWE contract in 2010, as Mike Dalton, and entered through the company's then-developmental system known as Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW). In 2012, FCW was rebranded as NXT, but it took another year for him to develop his current persona known as "Tyler Breeze," a model with a notable vanity obsession including selfies. During his time at NXT, Breeze has had memorable matches against Sami Zayn, Tyson Kidd, Adrian Neville, Hideo Itami and recently with Japanese wrestling legend Jushin Thunder Liger at the sold-out "NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn" special from the Barclays Center -- the biggest NXT event to date.
Back to the "SmackDown" taping, Breeze delivered his own promo and attacked Ziggler.
In tag-team competition, King Barrett and Sheamus defeated The Lucha Dragons. Rusev was at ringside.
Ryback defeated Bo Dallas, which was followed by a backstage interview with Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens.
It was main event time with New Day's Kofi Kingston and Big E vs. Ambrose and Reigns in a non-title match. Ambrose and Reigns won the match. Afterwards, a Bray Wyatt promo appeared on the titantron. Wyatt and Reigns will fight inside the Hell in a Cell structure at Sunday's "Hell in a Cell" event.
"WWE SmackDown" airs weekly on Thursdays at 8 p.m. EDT on SyFy.
