‘Halo 5: Guardians’ Soundtrack & Updates: Studio Head Announces 9GB Day 1 Patch, Limited Edition OST Also Available
The past few days have been busy for "Halo 5: Guardians," and, now, there's more news about the day one patch coming and the soundtrack for the upcoming game.
Developer 343 Industries head Josh Holmes went on Twitter to answer questions about the "Halo 5: Guardians", and a Twitter user asked about the file size of the first update players can look forward to.
"The MP update (includes map content) is 9GB," he tweeted in response.
According to a report from Tech Times, the patch is required to be installed if players want to play online. The hefty size of the update is likely due to the multiplayer maps included.
While anticipating the launch of the first-person shooter game, fans of the franchise can listen to the official soundtrack on SoundCloud. 343 Industries released the 39 tracks that are sure to get the players pumped up for "Halo 5: Guardians".
A report from Xbox Wire revealed that the newest "Halo" OST is available in four different versions at varying price points. The standard digital edition will be sold for $15.99, with instant access to five tracks including "Halo Canticles," "Light Is Green," "Kamchatka," "The Trials" and "Osiris Suite, Act 1." The standard CD/LP, which comes with an mp3 download card, will cost $24.99.
Other special editions of the record include a clear vinyl edition, also sold with an mp3 download card for $24.99. It's only available at Hastings, but enthusiasts will want to pick up a copy as there are only 1,000 copies being sold.
Finally, the limited edition "Halo 5: Guardians" OST will cost $49.99. The bundle will feature two compact discs, a vinyl double album, orchestral sheet music of "Jameson Locke," a digital download card with exclusive bonus tracks and a Blu-ray with 5.1 Surround-Sound edition soundtrack and cinematic exclusive, "The Sprint - Making Halo 5: Guardians."
Composed by Kazuma Jinnouchi, the official soundtrack will play a huge part in the gaming experience. The in-house composer for 343 Industries recently spoke about looking to the previous "Halo" games as he was crafting the new musical score with ENGadget.
"My process was to take all the musical elements from Halo 1, 2, 3 and 4 and say, 'Okay, we have this theme for this type of moment, this theme for that character,'" Jinnouchi explained. "We have a lot of that for our legacy. So moving forward, I have to take them and make sense against what we see and what we experience in Halo 5. I rearranged a lot of them in a way that the tone is still Halo 5, but you do pay homage to the previous titles."
"Halo 5: Guardians" for Xbox One will be released on Oct. 27.
