Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain face off on Wednesday in the most hotly anticipated match of the Champions League.

Everyone knew that Group A would really come down to these two sides duking it out. With Ángel Di María, Zlatan Ibrahimović and Edinson Cavani, PSG has a formidable offense. Meanwhile, Real Madrid has Cristiano Ronaldo leading a decimated front line.

PSG is playing at home and is mostly at full strength, though the loss of David Luiz during the international break may be tough for the team to endure.

Madrid's injuries continue to pile up, with Gareth Bale out for an unknown amount of time. The Welshman played against Levante this weekend and was very influential in Madrid's attack. Instead, Ronaldo will likely be asked to play up top, with Isco and Jesé Rodriguez likely flanking him.

Luka Modrić, who was also injured during the international break, will be back in the mix, though it is unclear whether he will appear in a starting role or come off the bench. Madrid's midfield trio of Mateo Kovacic, Casemiro and Toni Kroos were solid on the weekend, giving the team defensive and offensive balance.

Scoring is a concern, however, with Ronaldo playing more inconsistently in La Liga than one might expect. He has six goals in the competition, but has only tallied in two of seven matches. He has been far more consistent in the UCL with five goals in two games. However, two of his goals came off penalties against Shakhtar Donetsk. He will need to be at his best in arguably the most challenging game for the team to date.

The other big story to look out for is Di María playing against the team with which he won the Champions league in 2013-14. The Argentine has already pledged to show respect to his former team.

"I won't celebrate because, deep in my heart, I'll never forget what I experienced at Real," Di María said in an interview with Canal+.

The game gets underway at 2:45 p.m. ET and can be viewed on ESPN Deportes or Fox Soccer 2 Go.
