‘Halo 5: Guardians’ for PC: 343 Industries Says Game Will Remain Xbox-One Exclusive
There were mixed reactions when it was hinted the renowned "Halo 5: Guardians" is coming to PC, but now the 343 Industries executives have spoke that there will be no exodus to a new platform. The "Halo" franchise will remain an Xbox One exclusive for now.
It was 343 Industries franchise director Frank O'Connor who sparked speculation on the "Halo" game being released to Windows 10 in an interview with Games Radar, according to MCV UK.
"There is plenty of chance that 'Halo 5' could appear on the PC," he said during a livestream. "Nothing to announce at this point, but it's absolutely within the bounds of reason."
He added, "We developed the game on an Intel platform. It wouldn't be the hardest thing in the world to move it to PC and take advantage of PC stuff. But nothing to announce today."
When he was asked about the comments on Twitter, the director explained that his words were less of a confirmation than it seemed.
"I didn't 'mention' it, I was asked a question and gave the same noncommittal answer I've been giving to that question for ten years," O'Connor answered to a fan query.
Xbox marketing executive Aaron Greenberg also chimed in after another fan mentioned the possible PC release of the upcoming shooter game.
"This is not true," Greenberg clarified in his Twitter account. "Game is being made exclusively for Xbox One."
When another Twitter user told O'Conner that Greenberg denied his statements, the director responded, "No he didn't, he said the same thing I did. It's not out of the question, but there's no plan at this time?"
Now that the game is almost out, the minds behind the new installment "Halo 5: Guardians" are more open to talking about the in-game specifics that fans can look forward to. According to a report from Stevivor, Campaign and Sandbox Design director Brad Walsh recently opened up about the game's AI companions and difficulty levels.
"With the musketeers [AI], they definitely become less effective as you move up difficulty levels, and that was intentional," Walsh explained. "The bleed out times speed up on Legendary and [the AI has] less time to get to you. They might be taken out themselves while trying to get to you. That's to encourage more usage of orders and more careful play in higher difficulty levels. If you charge in or order the AI to do so, you're not going to survive. There was some intentional design there to keep Legendary as challenging as possible."
The executive also revealed that the team scaled the difficulty according to the number of players in co-op, so it would be as challenging with other players as it is alone.
"Halo 5: Guardians" for Xbox One makes its debut on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
