‘Star Wars Battlefront’ PS4, Xbox One Update: Heroes, Villains Make Their Video Game Debut in New Trailer [Watch]
The galaxy doesn't seem to be so far, far away anymore. The team behind "Star Wars Battlefront" dropped a new trailer for the upcoming shooter game, giving the fans a peek of the iconic characters and nonstop action that can be expected soon.
According to the official "Star Wars Battlefront" website, DICE, EA Games and Lucasfilm revealed an unprecedented look at the game with the gameplay launch trailer. This time, other iconic characters joined in the fray including Princess Leia, Han Solo and Emperor Palpatine.
The two-minute trailer showed scenes in various planets including Endor, Hoth, Tatooine and Sullust while flashes of the beloved characters were unveiled.
"For the rebellion," Princess Leia declared before proceeding to channel a powerful shield for her allies as Boba Fett flew by. A report from Variety also highlighted the next clip where Boba Fett hovered over the site of his death in the "Return of the Jedi" film, quipping, "That won't happen again."
Darth Vader and Han Solo face off in a fight, as well as Emperor Palpatine and Luke Skywalker later in the trailer, scenes that will have long-time "Star Wars" fans reminiscing at the familiar sight.
From the trailer, it looks as if the new game is keeping true to the characterizations of the famous icons in "Star Wars" history. DICE senior producer Jami Keen previously addressed issues with canon and working with Lucasfilm to maintain the franchise's spirit, telling Game Spot, "We work very, very closely with Lucasfilm, and it's been a close collaboration with them. A lot of alignment revolves around sharing goals, and I think, in particular with the hero characters, it's their baby."
"They're very good about understanding this is a different situation," Keen explained. "This is a gameplay situation. While that may not have happened in the films, it still feels like something they would do in that situation. That's the most important thing that we're trying to get with the characters. It's as much evoking a sense of their spirit and essence as it is a completely faithful translation."
The upcoming "Star Wars Battlefront" is setting itself up as one of the year's greatest and most anticipated releases. Even its beta garnered amazing support from the fans, getting over 9.5 million players across platforms during its short run, according to a community update on the EA website.
"Star Wars Battlefront" for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC will be released on Nov. 17.
