'Dr. Phil' to Air Jared Fogle Tapes Admitting Child Sex Abuse
Footage of Jared Fogle talking about sexually abusing children is set to air on "Dr. Phil" in a two-part special on Thursday and Friday.
The former Subway spokesman's secret was discovered by Florida journalist Rochelle Herman-Walrond, who befriended him in order to expose his sexual abuse of children, according to USA Today. She recorded phone conversations she had with Fogle in order to get proof of the abuse.
During their conversation, Herman-Walrond asked the 38-year-old about his sexual encounters with children.
"I had a little boy. It was amazing," Fogle said. "It just felt so good. I mean it felt -- it felt so good."
She proceeded to ask him if he preferred young boys or young girls, and he replied, "Both of them."
Fogle even elaborated on how he would fly to other countries to meet up with children.
"I would fly us clear across the world if we need to," Fogle said to Herman-Walrond. "To Thailand or wherever we want to go. If we're gonna try to get some young kids with us it would be a lot easier."
At one point, Fogle even asked the reporter unsettling questions about her own kids.
"Are there any of your kids' friends that you think are pretty hot? What if we put a camera in your kids' room? Would they be OK with that?"
Herman-Walrond told Dr. Phil she had to make sure she remained composed during the investigation, even though she was disgusted by Fogle's actions, in order to get the evidence she needed.
A federal judge will sentence Fogle on Thursday, Nov. 19. He has agreed to plead guilty to charges of child pornography charges and sex with minors. So far, he has paid $1 million in restitution to 10 of his 14 victims. The remaining four victims are likely to receive similar payments before Fogle is sentenced.
Herman-Walrond first came in contact with Fogle when she was interviewing him on her radio show in 2006. During the interview, Fogle was recorded saying he thought middle-school girls were "hot." Shocked by what he said, Herman-Walrond turned over her recordings to the FBI, which led to criminal charges being brought against Fogle.
