Afrojack New Album Release: Producer Announces Launch of Debut Album 'Forget the World' on Snapchat [WATCH]
Afrojack comes up with rather an extraordinary, social media-savvy way to premiere music from his debut album, Forget the World -- the Grammy Award winning DJ and producer plans to use Snapchat, a popular smartphone application, which allows users to send messages that disappear forever after 10 seconds.
In other words, fans will be able to enjoy Afrojack's 10-second preview snippet of a new track, leading up to his performance at the Ultra Music Festival Miami, each day at 12 p.m. EST throughout the next week. However, the Dutch DJ will be using Snapchat Stories, which will allow users to send video messages that can last for 24 hours, as opposed to the usual short 10 seconds. In order to access the exclusive clips and receive the creative messages, fans will have to follow "realAfrojack' on Snapchat.
The "Take Over Control" DJ previously explained the campaign, which started on March 16. "It's a way to basically send [information] to everyone around the world, for a certain period of time, so it's not going to be straight leaked online," he said. "It's something that goes directly to fans; directly from me to them."
He also admitted that he often uses the app to interact with fans. "Yeah, I reply to fans every now and then, and I receive a lot," he added. "Basically, I think this is what artists used to have when they got fan mail; now I get it over Snapchat. I have so many people tell me, 'I love your music,' or 'I love this song.' They send me videos, like some guy and his friends going crazy over a song. It's cool to see every now and then."
Forget the World is set for a release on May 19, 2014.
