Scarlett Johansson Makes Bible Verses Sound ‘Sexy’
Scarlett Johansson teamed up with comedian Mike O'Brien to bring some sex appeal to Bible verses on his latest comedy record "Tasty Radio."
The 30-year-old actress and former "Saturday Night Live" writer collaborated on the four-minute track titled "Sexy Bible," in which Johannson recites some steamy biblical verses from Deuteronomy 21:18 from the Old Testament, according to Us Weekly.
"If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son ... his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town," Johannson says on the tape in a seductive, breathy tone.
At first O'Brien wasn't sure what direction to take when incorporating the Old Testament into a sketch, but he knew for sure he wanted a female to deliver the punch line.
"The Old Testament is filled with beautiful stuff, but also some weirdly specific, random rules and speeches," O'Brien told Rolling Stone. "Deuteronomy could be called 'Laws for Stuff That Will Never Apply to 99 percent of Civilization,' like what to do with a dead animal you find [or] what to do to a woman who grabs the junk of a guy who her husband is fighting. [It's] a very funny time capsule of what those guys were worried about back then."
Additional comedians contributing to the comedy record include Cecily Strong, Jason Sudeikis, Fred Armisen, John Mulaney, Vanessa Bayer, Paul Brittain, Neil Casey, Tom Flanigan, Sue Galloway, Shelly Gossman, Peter Grosz, Bill Hader, T.J. Jagodowski, Colin Jost, Rob Klein, John Lutz, Constance O'Brien, Meagan O'Brien, Nasim Pedrad, Ben Piner, Marika Sawyer, Jorma Taccone and Seth Meyers.
Mike O'Brien became a member of the "SNL" writing staff in 2009 and was featured as a cast member in 2013. Some of his most memorable sketches on the show included "Monster Pals" with James Franco and "Puppet Class" with Seth MacFarlane.
"Tasty Radio" will hit store shelves on Friday, Oct. 30.
