'Infamous: Second Son' Release Date, Gameplay & Trailer: Developers Think Game is Perfect for PS4
Sucker Punch Co-founder, Chris Zimmerman, praises Sony's current gen game console for its helpful high specs.
Zimmerman talked about Infamous: Second Son in the Episode 112 PlayStation Blogcast which was aptly titled Praise the Son. The Sucker Punch Co-founder admitted that the PS4 somehow made the development of the third installment of the Infamous franchise relatively better compared with the previous consoles.
"There are practical limits to do what you can do and still have an afordable console, but the hardware design team did a spectacular job of listening to all the game developers, both internal and external and making good decisions," Zimmerman said in the interview.
"They always were looking at the decisions they were making in terms of 'is this gonna let people make great games?' 'Is this gonna help people build great games?'" he added.
Chris Zimmerman also commented that the PS4's 8GB memory took the usual problem off the shoulders of game developers.
"Having a lot of memory was good, having 8 gigabytes of memory was even better. For the first time ever, and I've been doing this for seventeen years, we didn't have to worry about memory when we were building the game," he revealed in the interview.
Sucker Punch's Infamous: Second Son drops March 21 as the third in the Infamous titles - Infamous in 2009 and Infamous 2 in 2011.
Studio Co-founder and producer, Brian Fleming said that PS4 gamers who have not played the previous Infamous titles will still be able to play Infamous: Second Son. "Second Son takes place seven years after the events of the first two games, so in a lot of ways there's enough time separation that the game very much stands on its own," he said in a PlayStation blogpost.
"This isn't a homage to the previous games. That doesn't mean that there won't be a couple of fun things in there for the fans - but it's not what Second Son is about. It's not about, say, Zeke being a front line character. This is Delsin's story," Fleming adds.
The title will also reportedly require 24GB to install, will not support online multiplayer and will be without Infamous 2's user-generated content. Fleming also said that there will unfortunately be no game demo for Infamous: Second Son before its release.
The title is available in disc format and via download for $59.99. Infamous: Second Son can also be pre-ordered in Limited and Collector's edition.
