The New York Giants are making a splash in free agency as the team looks to bounce back from yet another disappointing season in 2013-14.

A day after Big Blue brought Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to town, the team re-signed veteran receiver Mario Manningham after he spent a pair of seasons in San Francisco. Cromartie will provide a big boost to the secondary while Manningham helps fill the gap left by Hakeem Nicks, who jetted off to Indianapolis in a hurry.

In other news, the Patriots avoided what happened with Wes Welker a year ago and came to terms with free-agent Julian Edelman, who was being pursued by other teams. The deal is said to be four years, according to Edelman, who has not yet officially signed the contract.

He talked to ESPN Boston's Field Yates about his decision to head back to New England.

"You know, I got to go home and see the Niners, and I grew up a huge Niners fan," he said. "But being in New England the last five years, that's just home. I mean, that's just home for me right now and just the way the mentality of the team, how everything's done -- the scheme, the players, the locker room, the fans."

In other news, the Oakland Raiders continued their spending spree after acquiring former Giants defensive end Justin Tuck in what seemed to be a rather pricey contract. The squad signed receiver James Jones for three years and $11.3 million, according to ESPN. The three year deal is quite the lengthy contract for a receiver who turns 30 this month, but the Raiders are known to take these chances.
