Watch BBC Sherlock Season 3 and 4 Release Date: Where to Stream Moriarty Episodes Online
Sherlock Season 3's last episode was aired on BBC on Jan. 12, 2014 and was entitled "His Last Vow." The final episode was adapted from "The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton," with Nick Hurran as director and Steven Moffat as writer.
Avid followers of Sherlock were able watch it on the PBS website and also via the PBS App on several mobile platforms, including PBS app on Apple TV and PBS channel for Roku. The season has a run time of 87 minutes and Sherlock fans can get a cinema-like experience because of the compact editing. The third series was shown in three weeks from late January to early February of 2014 on PBS in the United States.
Although Season 3 is no longer available on PBS, avid fans of Sherlock can still watch Season 3 on Vudu at $4.99/episode and $19.99 for the whole season. Season 3 individual episodes cost $6.99 on Apple iTunes while an episode costs $4.99 from Amazon Instant Video. "The Empty Hearse" revealed that Moriarty was still alive and he comes back to taunt Sherlock in "His Last Vow," setting up the confrontation between the two in Season 4.
Sherlock Season 4 is scheduled to be released in 2016. Steven Moffat, the series' executive producer, said that the scripts are still in the planning stage. Freeman and Cumberbatch, the crime series' lead actors, have declared their wish to be part of the series; however, no final statements have been made yet.
It is expected that Season 4 will also be available for streaming on PBS and the other sites mentioned above.
Sherlock is the most successful crime drama series on British television, taking a modern adaptation of the Sherlock Holmes detective stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The crime series has Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss as writers and has a total of nine episodes. The first episode was shown on July 25, 2010, followed by the next series in 2012 and the third series in 2014. The third series had the biggest number of viewers in the U.K. since 2001.
