Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith Says Goodbye to California Home
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith says goodbye to his California home.
Smith, who played for the San Francisco 49ers for seven seasons before he entered the Chiefs in 2013, sold his Monte Sereno abode for nearly $4 million, Los Angeles Times announced. The 31-year-old football player was able to find a buyer, who paid for the price he was targeting.
It was just in August when the University of Utah alum listed it on the market, per a separate article of The Times. Now, he already passed the ownership of the French-designed house to someone in less than two months. Thus, Smith profited almost $370,000 for the sale of the dwelling place he lived in for four years.
Real estate agent Cherish Atkinson of Sereno Group helped him with the listing while Brad K. Le of Keller Williams Realty, Silicon Valley, brokered the sale for the buyer.
The new owner now has a 4,650-square-foot residence that features four bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms, a formal dining room, a den, a living room with a fireplace, a charming dining area and a modern kitchen with a center island.
Notable interiors include classy-looking chandeliers, French doors, wide windows, century-old reclaimed wood beams and "antique limestone floors."
The home rests on about half an acre of California land and is surrounded with a pristine-looking lawn. A patio and an outdoor cooking area are also present on the grounds.
From California to Kansas
When Smith left for Kansas in 2013 to join the Chiefs, he just found his new home, Sports Illustrated noted in 2013.The 2005 NFL first pick overall shared that the move did not only change his life, but his wife's as well. However, it was a change they embraced with their hearts.
"California girl who's never lived anywhere else... We've never been out of the West. This is a new part of the country that we don't know anything about, and that's so exciting. It's been such an easy place to move to, such an easy place to live. And the climate--you actually get seasons...To say we've enjoyed our time here, at this point, is an understatement," Smith said.
Smith, who posted 6,578 passing yards while with the Chiefs for two seasons, per ESPN stats, is not just at home with the city. He is also much appreciated by the Chiefs.
The Kansas' NFL team extended his stay for four more years via a $68 million deal, CBS Sports informed last year. Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid shared why Smith rightfully belonged in their team, ESPN noted.
"Alex is a smart, talented football player that has adapted well to our offensive scheme," Reid said.
