Xbox One vs Nintendo NX: Microsoft Exec Talks About Competing With New NX Gaming Console
Xbox One has always been in a tight competition with PlayStation 4, but, this time, Nintendo may be the perfect picture of an opposing team.
In an interview by Gamesbeat with Microsoft's marketing head Aaron Greenberg, he acknowledged the possible effect of the Nintendo console coming in to the picture. He said that they are fully aware of Nintendo's capabilities and that their continued innovation makes them unique.
However, Greenberg also implied that there's really nothing to worry about at this is still the early stage, especially when there have been no indication of what the competitor's next step is. He added, though, that the company will deal with it when the time comes.
The upcoming holiday season will see the biggest display of marketing strategies and sales revenue for the top two gaming consoles: the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Previously, Xbox One announced their most interesting feature yet, the backward compatibility that will be launch on Nov. 10. Microsoft seems is expected to capitalize on the feature in order to bring the margin of competition nearer to PlayStation 4. But with the Nintendo NX bringing additional threat to the holiday season sale, the Xbox One may need to prep up a little bit more in order to keep their spot.
GamesBeat also asked the concept of Microsoft integrating bundles on the Xbox One. Greenberg revealed that there are two reasons for that. One is the release of certain limited edition consoles. These specially designed consoles come far in between, and this is what gamers tend to look forward to. The second one is the whole concept of treating players with a new game bundle once they decide to buy the Xbox One console. If, at the time, there's a new game coming, they will bundle it with the console as a perk for the player. The bundle mainly targets new customers, who wish to buy a brand new console, and if a new title is what brings them to buy it, Xbox is ready to give that to them.
According to Attack of the Fan Boy, Nintendo has been very good at keeping everything under wraps. With no leaks on their possible strategies, the Nintendo NX may finally bring something different to gamers. However, the holiday season will not likely to bring additional competition as the Nintendo NX is slated to be introduced in 2016. Until then, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will take on the center stage this holiday season.
