Fantasy Football 2015 Rankings, Sleepers & Week 9 Waiver Wire: Top 5 NFL Players to Pick Up This Week
The waiver wire is absolutely critical for Fantasy Football owners everywhere. Staying on top of free agency can make or break your team every week. Disappointing play and injuries often lead to Fantasy Football owners checking their waiver wire to help aid their roster week in and week out.
Here are five players you should consider singing off the waiver wire this week.
1. DeAngelo Williams
We hate injuries, but it's part of the game. The Pittsburgh Steelers lost Le'Veon Bell for the season with a torn MCL. They lost a critical game to the Cincinnati Bengals, and have dropped to 4-4. Fortunately for Fantasy Football owners, not all is lost at the running back position in the Steel City. DeAngelo Williams has done a great job filling in for Bell this season with a 4.9 yard per carry average. He even had 71 rushing yard playing the backup role against the Bengals with another 39 yards receiving. He fits the Steelers system quiet well.
2. Stefon Diggs
Stefon Diggs has been the most underrated offensive player in the NFL player this season. The Minnesota Vikings rookie wide receiver has been fantastic this year with 419 yards in just four games. Don't start the Randy Moss comparisons just yet, but Diggs is proving the doubters wrong after being drafted in the fifth round this offseason. Mike Wallace is the deep threat for the Vikings, and he's taking a huge amount of pressure off Diggs for medium range catches. Diggs and the Vikings face the St. Louis Rams next week. The Rams have a great defense, but the Vikings will be at home.
3. Willie Snead
The New Orleans Saints pass the football, a lot. Drew Brees threw the ball 50 times against the New York Giants in their 52-49 win on Sunday. Don't look now, but the Saints have won three in a row and four of their last five. Brandin Cooks leads the Saints in receiving yards, but Willie Snead is tied for the team lead in touchdowns, two of which came against the Giants. Even without Jimmy Graham, Drew Brees is doing just fine, and he appears to have a good connection with Snead.
4. Brandon LaFell
Drops, drops and more drops. We're going to give Mr. LaFell another chance. Having played on Thursday Night Football, the Patriots get a good nice long rest for their next game against the Washington Redskins. He's been a little shaky in his first two games back, but let's remember LaFell hadn't played since February. Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski will get most of the touches as usual, but this could be the break out game for the LaFell. It's a home game, and this will be a great opportunity for LaFell to prove to everyone he's just fine. If LaFell is open, Tom Brady will find him.
5. Derek Carr
It's unlikely you're having quarterback problems this late in the season, but if you are, take a look at Derek Carr. Carr has 15 touchdowns and just three interceptions this season, and he's been on fire lately. The Oakland Raiders have won their last two games, and Carr has seven touchdowns and zero interceptions in his last two games. His passer rating is a phenomenal 105.7 this season. He's not better than Peyton Manning, but he is putting up better Fantasy Football numbers. Carr is owned by less than 24 percent of Fantasy Football owners at the moment.
