'GTA 6' Release Date & Gameplay: 2019 Launch Planned? Eva Mendes, Ryan Gosling To Play Major Roles?
It's been two years since "Grand Theft Auto 5" release, so it's not surprising that fans are already wondering about the next installment of the well-loved franchise. "Grand Theft Auto 6" remains in the pipeline, and recent reports reveal that fans will have to wait to cruise the streets of a brand new game.
According to a report from NeuroGadget, Rockstar Games are planning to take their time with the next game in the franchise. Sources say that the company is in no rush and are planning a launch in 2019.
Although the release date is still a few years away, there has been a considerable buzz around the next "Grand Theft Auto" game, including rumors that Hollywood stars will appear in the game. The most prominent names to be associated with the sixth installment are A-List couple Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes. NeuroGadget further states that Gosling has already agreed to be part of the "Grand Theft Auto" project while Mendes is rumored to be the first lead female character of the franchise.
Back in 2013, Dan House told The Guardian that the team is open to the possibility of casting a female lead in the next iterations of "Grand Theft Auto."
"In the future, could we do a game with a lead female character? Of course," House revealed during the interview. "We just haven't found the right game for it yet, but it's one of the things that we always think about. It didn't feel natural for this game but definitely for the right game in the future — with the right themes, it could be fantastic."
The excitement for "Grand Theft Auto 6" is constantly present in part because of the wildly successful fifth installment.
One of the game's recent achievements is winning big at the Golden Joystick Awards, which is one of the most popular gaming awards in the industry. According to a report from Gazette Review, "Grand Theft Auto 5" won awards in the following categories: "Best PC Game," "Best Multiplayer," "Most Played" and "Innovation of the Year."
Last summer, "Grand Theft Auto 5" marked a significant milestone as they become the fourth best-selling game of all time with 54 million copies sold across all platforms, according to a previous report from Latin Post.
"Grand Theft Auto 6" has a lot to live up to with the incredible success of its predecessor, but the timeline gives the developers some time to perfect a new installment. What do you think Rockstar Games have to do to top "Grand Theft Auto 5"?
