Powerball Numbers and Results Nov 4, 2015: Watch Live Stream of Drawing for $142M Jackpot
Wednesday’s chance to make big money playing Powerball is here.
The grand prize is currently at $142 million, with a cash value of $88.5 million.
Last Saturday’s winning numbers were 9, 20, 25, 47, 68, and 7. There were 741,505 regular winners, and $4,949,963 in non-jackpot money was won.
There are actually nine ways to play Powerball. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 293 million. The odds of simply doubling your money on a $2 ticket are 1 in 38.
Although any kind of lottery is essentially a game of chance, there is one state where Powerball players start out with a bit of a disadvantage -- at least when it comes to picking up their winnings.
Due to a budget crisis in Illinois, people in that state can still play the game, but will have to settle for an IOU if they win.
As KWQC News reports, Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner feels bad about the situation, but said there is nothing to be done about it at the moment.
“Well I’m sorry that there are many things happening right now that I hate that are happening because we don’t have a budget,” Rauner said.
Before Oct. 15, Illinois had been giving prize money out to ticket holders who won less than $25,000. The state has now lowered that payment to a mere $600.
Not only does this move affect lottery winners, but it puts a damper on the businesses that sell the lottery tickets as well, as they will not receive the usual 10 percent of the winnings they are used to getting.
Gov. Rauner maintains that making sure that his state’s lottery winners receive their winnings is a priority.
“I want our lottery winners paid, and I want child care funded, and I want scholarships for our kids who need it to got to college,” he said. “I want all that money, we don’t have a budget. So I am going to push hard everyday, seven days a week, to get a budget.”
