Fallout 4 News: Official Launch Trailer Shows Gameplay, Storylines [Watch]
Fallout 4 developer Bethesda on Thursday released an official launch trailer for the upcoming game.
In the trailer, Fallout 4 fans were treated to almost three minutes of in-game footage, Hot Hardware reports. The clip provided glimpses of the story, the main character in combat, and even shelter building.
In Fallout 4, players can choose to be either a male or female main character, both of which were shown in the trailer. The video also showed off the extremely detailed environments in the game, from wasteland to ghost towns, as well as all sorts of weapons and technology to help players defend the world from mutants, including the series' iconic armored suits.
The trailer also focused on an overarching storyline, in which players must find the "Institute." The main character in the game is the only survivor from Vault 111, one of many underground bunkers meant to protect people from nuclear warfare. After emerging from the vault, players must find a way to save what is left of society, killing mutants, building settlements and forming alliances with other survivors along the way.
Bethesda provided few details with this trailer, leaving players to explore most of the game on their own.
"I would be stunned if we said anything else about the story ever again [prior to launch]," Pete Hines, Bethesda's vice president of PR and marketing, told IGN. "We're going to let everybody experience that in the game as much as possible. But there are certain trade-offs you have to make to build some amount of awareness to what the game is offering, so you're willing to make some sacrifices."
There could be another trailer released before the game comes out on Nov. 10.
