'Bloodborne' Gameplay Update: New Content To Include The League, Extra Co-op NPC Hunters & More
Fans of From Software's action role-playing game "Bloodborne" already have a paid DLC on the way. The highly anticipated "Bloodborne: The Old Hunters" expansion pack is set to arrive on Nov. 24, but those who choose to be prudent with their $20 still have a lot of new things to look forward to.
Sony Computer Entertainment Japan (SCEJ) producer Masaaki Yamagiwa took to the official PlayStation blog site to detail the contents of an upcoming "Bloodborne" patch, which includes a new group of NPC hunters known simply as The League.
Led by "a mysterious figure in a constable's garb and bucket helmet," those who join The League can help other players online and compete on a new multiplayer leaderboard.
The update also carries a weapon called The League cane plus a new skill that lets players call upon co-op NPCs during the game. Yamagiwa said the ability is "perfect for tackling challenging areas and bosses."
As for "Bloodborne: The Old Hunters," the DLC costs $20 and includes new areas, 10 new weapons and more in-game content. You can pre-order the DLC by heading to the PlayStation Store here. Those who pre-order the DLC will receive a bonus PS4 theme. For those who haven't played the game but want to be introduced to the gothic world of "Bloodborne," get the game here for $49.99 inclusive of pre-order for the DLC.
GameSpot asked Yamagiwa last month if the contents of the cinematic trailer would find their way to the final DLC. The Sony producer said, "This is a small portion of one of the three new stages that's going to be in the DLC. But we have tweaked a few things in the demo so it's not exactly the same experience you'll have in the main game. The real version is going to be even harder."
Yamagiwa explained that players don't need to complete the main single-player campaign from "Bloodborne" to access the upcoming DLC. However, "Bloodborne: The Old Hunters" will only be available after players progress to a certain point of the main game.
Yamagiwa did not specify the new items, but he did say that most of the new weapons are created after the release of the main game back in March this year.
Again, the expansion pack will become available on Nov. 24. The PS4-exclusive DLC will then be bundled with the original game starting Dec. 3. Pricing for the bundle has yet to be reported. Also, the due date for the game's upcoming patch is still unknown.
