On Thursday, reggaeton star J Balvin and singer Justin Bieber announced and released their first musical collaboration, a Latin remix of the Canadian pop star's single "Sorry."

The two stars teased the collaboration on social media throughout the day, with Bieber being the first to share the cover artwork. The song quickly became a trending topic, before it was officially released at midnight.

Both Balvin and Bieber posted videos of a phone exchange between the two that promoted their collaboration. Bieber told Balvin during the call, "The Latina girls are going to go crazy."

This isn't the first time that the two stars have worked together. They were both part of the Special Olympics World Games Opening Ceremony back in July and even shared a moment together on Instagram.

Balvin posted a video of himself teaching Bieber Colombian slang. In the video, the 21-year-old can be heard trying to say "parcero," the Latin version of "bro."

"Sorry" is part of Bieber's upcoming fourth studio album, titled "Purpose." The pop star previously revealed he is proud of the new material, but that the album was a challenge for him to finally record, after coming out of a "dark place," according to Billboard.

"I'm so nervous," Bieber told the magazine about his musical comeback. "It's hard to make meaningful songs that make you want to dance because it can come off cheesy. In the past I've recorded songs that I didn't like, that I wouldn't listen to, that the label was telling me to record."

"I'm self-expressing with this album -- I can't skip on the moments that were dark, the moments that were happy, the ex-girlfriend stuff. It makes it real, rather than 'Let's call up Max Martin to write you a hit song.' I want my music to be inspiring," he added.
