'Grimm' Season 5, Episode 2 Spoilers: Nick Warns of Looming Wesen Uprsing in ‘Clear and Wesen Danger’ [Watch]
Nick (David Giuntoli) will face the threat of a Wesen uprising in Portland just as he becomes a new father in Friday night's all-new episode of "Grimm."
After the Season 5 premiere of "Grimm" kicked off with a bang last week, the circumstances in Portland will only become more intense in Episode 2, "Clear And Wesen Danger," as Nick tries to protect his new family from a looming Wesen uprising.
"On the heels of becoming a new father, Nick must make some major changes to keep his child and Adalind (Claire Coffee) safe. Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) and Rosalee (Bree Turner) step in to help prepare for the new addition. Meanwhile, Capt. Renard (Sasha Roiz) assigns Hank (Russell Hornsby) a new partner as they investigate a brutal murder at an investment group," the synopsis reads for the upcoming episode, according to CarterMatt.
Last week, Nick and his archenemies welcomed a baby boy named Kelly Burkhardt into the world. Meanwhile, Nick buried his girlfriend and watched as Trubel was kidnapped from his home. FBI Agent Chavez was also killed by an unknown Wesen faction, and it was revealed that Meisner was secretly working with Chavez against Nick.
In a sneak peek preview for the upcoming episode, Nick is seen investigating a brutal murder scene with Hank, Monore and Sgt. Wu (Reggie Lee.) He also tells the gang that Chavez's phone received a mysterious call from a man right after she was killed. Finally, he warns them about the Wesen war.
During an interview with TVLine, Giuntoli opened up about the inexplicable death of Chavez and the effects that her murder will have on his character.
"Nick has really no idea where to go after Chavez dies," the series star said. "She was his only lead. But when the phone rings, well, someone's calling Chavez who knows Chavez, so this must be the guy!"
The actor also dropped spoilers about what he calls "a global uprising of Wesen," adding that the Wesen "are breaking all the rules. They are thumbing their noses at all of the Wesen traditions, which are: Chill out, keep a low profile and we won't get killed... They're like, 'To hell with trying to behave.' It is a global threat, and there's no limit at which they will stop."
Giuntoli went on to tease that Nick will move out his house and will be a hands-on father to his son.
"You're going to see a lot of diaper-changing gags," he said. "Nick moves the hell out of the house. That's a big spoiler. He's done with it. The trailer's gone, Juliette's gone, his mom's gone, get me the hell out of this house. My neighbors really despise me, I'm sure. His new instinct is protect this baby, and protect Adalind, who is also protecting this baby."
Coffee also talked about her character Adalind and her evolving relationship with Nick.
"She is not interested in becoming a hexenbiest at all again," the actress said of Adalind. "She's on Nick's side and striking up a relationship, like a friendship, with Rosalee. She's not part of the Scoobie squad, but she's definitely endearing herself to the Portland crew."
She added, "[Adalind and Nick] are roommates and their relationship changes almost 180 degrees with raising this child. Both being in such dire straits, they're relying on each other. I do think Nick, the thing that allows him to let her in in any way because he feels like a different person, he feels so empty, losing his mother, losing Juliette, feeling betrayed by Juliette, he has his buddies but when you go through such an enormous tragedy, you just feel a little alienated from everybody. I think that allows them to empathize with one another and work on raising this baby. They're teammates, for sure."
According to Coffee, the hunt for her first born child Diana will also continue in Season 5, though differently than before.
"It's not as active as it was," she told TVLine. "There is so much other drama unfolding that even the hunt for Diana is on the back burner."
"Grimm" Season 5 Episode 2 premieres on Friday, Nov. 6 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
